Prime Minister Trudeau to let members of Parliament come to work high

Mired in nothing short of his father’s Trudeaumania, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had his fair share of windfall love and adoration from the Canadian public as a whole. Sometimes it seems like no matter what he says, the nation will still pedestal him to great heights (maybe even deservingly so after the Harper Administration) but it seems like he’s really testing his luck this time.

Unless you’ve been living deep under a boulder, most Canadians have already heard of the Liberals promise to legalize cannabis consumption by spring of 2017…after all, many believe it was one of the driving forces that catapulted the Grits to the front page of 2016 politics nationally and abroad.

Fast forward to winter of 2016/2017, Our fearless yoga loving, photo-bombing, selfie-basking Prime Minister elect is now suggesting members of parliament, both provincial and federal, will not be held to any standards with regards to their personal consumption of cannabis one the law makes it legal.

Come again? That’s right, Justin Trudeau when asked about whether or not any member of parliament would be held accountable for their cannabis consumption while holding office, he astutely responded “it would be counterintuitive to fight for legalization all this time only to continue going after what I would consider the Canadian citizen… I believe it will be left to their own discretion at the end of the day.”

Further clarification with the PMO’s office concluded that under his new legislation, members of any parliament would in theory be allowed to smoke up and attend their regular work under a loose “don’t ask don’t tell” policy.

This policy would indeed extend to the nation itself and include other civil servants including the military, RCMP, and many other governmental departments.

This has sent shockwaves from coast to coast and we wouldn’t be surprised if we hear the Prime Minister backpedalling in the coming days but one thing is for sure. Once Canada goes green, there is no going back so here’s hoping the current administration plays their cards correctly before they’re up in smoke.
